Welcoming Garrett Shafer to the New Horizon Ag Solutions Team

We’re excited to welcome Garrett Shafer to the New Horizon Ag Solutions team.

Garrett is originally from Covington, Ohio, where he was born and raised on his family’s farm. He currently lives in Casstown, OH with his wife, Riann. The two were recently married in September and are expecting their first child, a baby girl, this May.

Garrett brings a strong background in agriculture, with hands-on experience across both livestock and crop production. Having worked on large cattle operations in Ohio and Illinois, along with time in seed and chemical sales, he understands the day-to-day challenges growers and producers face — and what it takes to make a program work in the real world.

What stood out to Garrett about New Horizon Ag Solutions is the team’s mindset.

“Being here for such a short time, I can already see that everyone operates with the customer’s best interests first — whether that’s crop/soil management or on the livestock side. Everyone is willing to lend a helping hand no matter what.”

That approach aligns closely with Garrett’s own. Agriculture isn’t just a career for him, it’s something he’s deeply invested in. He currently serves on the Buckeye Hereford Board of Directors and is also a field representative for LiveAg.

Outside of work, Garrett stays busy with his herd of registered Hereford cattle, which he sells and shows across the country. When he does get some free time, you can usually find him enjoying time on the lake with family.
