Welcoming Garrett Shafer to the New Horizon Ag Solutions Team

We’re excited to welcome Garrett Shafer to the New Horizon Ag Solutions team.

Garrett is originally from Covington, Ohio, where he was born and raised on his family’s farm. He currently lives in Casstown, OH with his wife, Riann. The two were recently married in September and are expecting their first child, a baby girl, this May.

Garrett brings a strong background in agriculture, with hands-on experience across both livestock and crop production. Having worked on large cattle operations in Ohio and Illinois, along with time in seed and chemical sales, he understands the day-to-day challenges growers and producers face — and what it takes to make a program work in the real world.

What stood out to Garrett about New Horizon Ag Solutions is the team’s mindset.

“Being here for such a short time, I can already see that everyone operates with the customer’s best interests first — whether that’s crop/soil management or on the livestock side. Everyone is willing to lend a helping hand no matter what.”

That approach aligns closely with Garrett’s own. Agriculture isn’t just a career for him, it’s something he’s deeply invested in. He currently serves on the Buckeye Hereford Board of Directors and is also a field representative for LiveAg.

Outside of work, Garrett stays busy with his herd of registered Hereford cattle, which he sells and shows across the country. When he does get some free time, you can usually find him enjoying time on the lake with family.

We’re excited to have Garrett on board and look forward to the experience, perspective, and work ethic he brings to the team.

Analyzing the Latest PTI Data on NanoPro®, NanoN+®, and NanoCote™ Core

Every season we’re trying to answer the same question: Which products actually pay?

Inputs aren’t cheap, and most growers don’t have much patience for something that sounds good on paper but doesn’t move the needle in the field. That’s why we like to look closely at independent trial data like the PTI results coming out on some of the Nano-Yield® technologies.

The most recent PTI data gives us a good look at how NanoPro, NanoN+, and NanoCote Core are performing across multiple years and environments. What stands out isn’t just the yield gains, but the consistency of the results.

NanoPro®: Supporting Plant Health at Key Growth Stages

In 2025 PTI trials, NanoPro showed a +1.4 bushel per acre yield improvement compared to a standard fungicide application at the R3 growth stage. That translated into an economic gain of +$10.62 per acre.

While a single bushel may not seem dramatic, the impact adds up quickly when applied across hundreds or thousands of acres. Supporting plant health during key reproductive stages can help crops maintain performance when it matters most.

NanoN+®: Making Nitrogen Work Harder

Nitrogen is one of the biggest investments growers make every year. Getting more efficiency out of nitrogen can make a real difference. In 2025 PTI trials, NanoN+ delivered a +5.5 bushel per acre yield increase, along with an economic return of +$18.33 per acre.

What really stands out, though, is the multi-year data behind it. This is part of an ongoing study that has run from 2022 through 2025. Across those years, the trials have averaged about a 6.2 bushel per acre yield gain and roughly $25 per acre in returns.

When you see results hold up across multiple seasons, that’s when you start paying attention. Improving nitrogen availability throughout the growing season helps the crop get more out of the fertility program that’s already being applied.

NanoCote™ Core: Improving Nitrogen Efficiency

Another product showing consistent results in the PTI data is NanoCote Core. Across multiple years, trials showed average yield gains of +4.1 bushels per acre when NanoCote Core was used. That translated into an average positive return of +$13.10 per acre.

Again, it comes back to nitrogen efficiency. If you can help the plant utilize more of the nitrogen that’s already being applied, you’re simply getting more value out of one of your biggest input costs.

Building Programs That Actually Pay

New Horizon Ag Solutions hosted a Grower Event on Tuesday, February 10, focused on one theme: make 2026 decisions that return profit, not just check boxes. The morning covered fertilizer strategy, seed ROI, spray performance, and whole-farm planning, all centered on building programs around the realities of each operation.

Optimizing Your Spray Water: How Nuvano™ Pure Can Improve Product Performance

Water isn’t just a carrier for your crop inputs — it can dramatically affect how well herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, foliar nutrients, and biologicals work in the field.

Many water sources contain hardness minerals like calcium and magnesium and naturally have a pH between 6.5 and 8.5. Unfortunately, most crop inputs are formulated to perform best at a lower pH range of about 4–6. If the water in your tank is outside that range, especially in hard water situations, it can reduce the effectiveness of your products before they ever reach the plant.

What Nuvano Pure Does

Nuvano Pure is a next-generation adjuvant and water conditioner designed to improve the delivery and performance of your tank-mixed products. It does this through a combination of technologies that work together for better results:

pH Modification: Nuvano Pure helps lower the pH of spray water into the optimal range for crop inputs. Just 1–2 pints per 100 gallons can drop the pH by 2–4 points, bringing it closer to the 4–6 sweet spot where many pesticides and nutrients are most effective.
Water Conditioning: When pH drops, bicarbonates in hard water can still bind with spray products and reduce their activity. Nuvano Pure’s Chelix technology binds these bicarbonates so they can’t interfere with your tank mix chemistry, helping protect the performance of the products you add next.
Improved Uptake: Beyond conditioning water, Nuvano Pure also acts like a mild surfactant. Its Meld technology helps spray droplets spread and stick to the leaf surface, which supports better uptake of the active ingredients into the plant, potentially improving overall performance.

How to Use Nuvano Pure

For best results, add Nuvano Pure after water and before any other products in the spray tank. This allows the water to be conditioned before additional inputs are introduced.

Typical rate: 1–2 pints per 100 gallons, depending on water hardness and starting pH. Harder water or water with more carbonates and bicarbonates typically benefits from the higher end of that range.

Compatibility: Nuvano Pure is designed to be compatible with most liquid fertilizers, pesticides, and biological stimulants. Like any adjuvant, it’s a good idea to jar test your specific mix before application.
